Our family is in a bit of an upheaval these days. We have an agreement to sell our home in less than a month and haven’t found a place to buy yet. Needless to say, life’s a bit stressful.
On my own strength, I’ve got nothing left. It’s easy to be overcome by circumstances and just not be able to handle the unknown.
Thankfully, I’m not doing this on my own.
The Lord led our family to selling this home. He has closed doors on us buying homes even when we thought they were “just what we wanted”. Our prayer has been for God to close those doors He doesn’t want us to walk through, and yet I can feel so discouraged when a house falls through.
Every day. Every hour. Every minute. I need Him. Every time the worries start to creep in, I have to remember that He’s in control. Every time my to-do list overwhelms me, I need to remember where I can “find my rest”.
The song “Lord, I need You” has been a source of encouragement and a reminder of God’s faithfulness through even the toughest days.
The first verse and chorus say:
Lord, I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You’re the One that guides my heart
Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
I’m definitely in the stage of “without You I fall apart”.
Are you facing some difficult circumstances? Illness? A husband who works long hours or even has to travel for work? The daily struggle of raising a family? Maybe something bigger than I can imagine?
Whatever you are facing, God wants you to rely on Him. God want me to rely on Him.
At church last Sunday, the pastor mentioned about Jesus being in the boat with us in the midst of the storm. God’s with our family as we face this storm, this little challenge. Even if it feels big at the moment, I’m sure He has something great planned for us.
Our family has faced other challenges before: infertility, adoption, cancer . . . God was faithful then and remains faithful now.
I can’t imagine “running this race” without Him. He is “my one defense, my righteousness.”
Every day. Every hour. Every minute. I need Him.
Here’s the official music video for “Lord, I need You”. I hope it is an encouragement to you as much as it is to me.
