Whenever we get “too busy”, so many things start to slide – our relationships with each other in the family, our time to read books, the housework, and time to play. Often, our best conversations are in the unhurried moments: the impromptu science experiments, questions about God, or just a child really wanting to learn.
Today, when Ruth finished her school work and was looking for something to do, she decided to draw a picture of an eye for her dad. This was her “not doing school”.
I’m glad we didn’t fill her day too full and weren’t in a hurry to get to something else. Downtime can be a beautiful thing, don’t you think?
