I’m sure there are people who absolutely love all the snow and ice in the winter. We really enjoy our days snowed in, but sometimes the winter starts to drag.
Today, we needed a “turning lemons into lemonade” moment. So, we made snow ice cream. This was our first time trying it, but I’m sure it won’t be the last.
First, we found some containers to set out in the snow. The snow is falling so fast here that the containers filled in less than 2 hours.
Then, we got to do some great math and CC memory work review. I mean, I put out a 6 liter/24 cup mixing bowl in the snow, and our recipe called for a gallon of snow.
Ruthie figured out that 24 cups was about 1 1/2 gallons so we got to make 1 1/2 times the recipe. Obviously we had a little more snow than that, but we figured we could estimate.
The recipe we used:
- 1 gallon of clean snow
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 2 cups milk
This is what it looked like before we stirred.
And of course, we immediately got to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
What do you love to do on snowy days?
