I wanted to share how much I love using the Motivated Moms chore planner. The chore planner is an ebook with a weekly printable chore list. I mentioned it in when I shared about how I keep up with the housework but didn’t really get into the details. I started really using it more than a month ago and thought I’d explain a bit about it.
What I own is the 2014 ebook full page chore planner that Motivated Moms sells. Each week is a single page that I can post to my refrigerator. There are daily tasks, tasks that are rotated weekly, and ones that rotate throughout the year. Daily tasks including wiping kitchen counters or laundry. Weekly, there are things like changing sheets, mopping the kitchen, or cleaning the tubs/showers. Tasks that are less frequent might be steam clean the carpets or change the a/c filter. There even are tasks like organizing coupons, cleaning out the fridge, or working on a craft. Elijah likes to point out the “pamper myself” task.
How I use the planner:
I post in on my fridge and highlight all the tasks that the kids or I can complete for the week. Then, the kids and I attack the list during a few 30-minute cleaning times throughout the week. We do not necessarily get tasks done on their specific days, but we do work roughly in order down the list. My children really can clean and are a huge help. Elijah loves to clean the bathroom mirrors when that’s on the list. All of my kids want to clean the microwave when it comes up.
Tasks that are just for me, I don’t highlight, but I work on them any time I have 5 or 10 minutes to spare. If leaving task unfinished or not having crossed off everything is hard for you, I wouldn’t recommend this. But, if you are like me and would rather spend the 5 minutes you have cleaning instead of thinking of a job to do, this is a huge help.
So, if you are interested, check out the Motivated Moms site and pick out an ebook. I own the full page chore planner without the Bible reading that I got as part of a pre-order of another book, but I’ll buy the one with the Bible reading next year.
