Being reminded of God’s faithfulness can be such an encouragement. God has done great things for our family in the past and continues to do so.
Recently, someone reminded me of something I had written for our first blog (a small, personal one). I decided that this story was worth publishing here as a reminder to me of God’s faithfulness.
This was written in July 2012:
Years ago, Seth and I struggled with not having children. We agonized, prayed, and wondered when God would provide us with a child. We really felt like we were going to have children one day, somehow. During this time, our first tent started to leak and lose tension in its shock cords. Even looking at tents reminded us that we were only 2 people, that we didn’t need a big tent. Well, Seth and I both felt like God was going to provide us with a family, and we decided to buy the tent that would be for that family. We probably looked silly camping with 2 people in a tent that was 11 x 17, but that tent was a promise of the future.
This past week, we camped at the beach with our family filling our tent. What a beautiful reminder of all that God has done (and continues to do) in our lives. I still think we went through all we did waiting for children because God wanted Elijah to be our first child. Our camping trip was filled with lots of wonderful things, but my favorite was being reminded of the blessings God has given us.
This family tent is just a physical object that we will wear out some day. The story of it will continue to remind me of God’s faithfulness. Only God could put our family together the way He wanted!
What reminds you of God’s faithfulness?
